Heel pain can make every step feel frustrating. Whether you notice pain when you get out of bed in the morning, after a long day on your feet, or when returning to exercise, plantar fasciitis can affect your comfort, mobility, and daily routine. At Westfield Health & Rehabilitation, Dr. Todd Carnucci provides personalized care for plantar fasciitis in Westfield, NJ, helping patients reduce pain, improve function, and get back to walking, working, and staying active with more comfort.
Plantar fasciitis develops when the thick band of tissue along the bottom of the foot becomes irritated and inflamed. This tissue, called the plantar fascia, helps support the arch of the foot and absorbs stress as you walk and run. When it is overloaded from repetitive strain, poor mechanics, prolonged standing, unsupportive footwear, or sports activity, it can lead to ongoing heel pain and stiffness.
Many people describe plantar fasciitis pain as:
At Westfield Health & Rehabilitation, care begins with understanding the cause of your symptoms and how they are affecting your movement. Because plantar fasciitis can be influenced by the foot, ankle, gait, posture, and overall mechanics, treatment should do more than just temporarily calm the pain. The goal is to support healing while also addressing the stress that may be contributing to the problem.
Dr. Todd Carnucci leads a progressive, integrated rehabilitation facility that combines chiropractic care with other therapies designed to help patients improve function and quality of life. The clinic’s chiropractic services use current technology, equipment, and treatment therapies to support recovery.
Although plantar fasciitis is centered in the foot, stress through the foot and heel can also be influenced by how the ankle, knees, hips, and spine are functioning. Restrictions in movement, altered gait mechanics, and compensation patterns can all place added strain on the plantar fascia. Chiropractic care may help improve joint motion and overall biomechanics to support better movement and reduce stress on irritated tissues.
At Westfield Health & Rehabilitation, chiropractic adjustments are described as a safe, natural, and effective procedure that helps keep the body in its best possible condition. For patients with plantar fasciitis, chiropractic care may be part of a broader treatment plan focused on improving function and helping the body heal more efficiently.
Shockwave therapy is one of the most effective non-invasive treatment options offered at Westfield Health & Rehabilitation for plantar fasciitis. The clinic specifically lists plantar fasciitis among the common conditions treated with shockwave therapy, and describes the treatment as a low-risk, non-invasive option that uses acoustic waves to target injured soft tissue, reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and stimulate the body’s natural healing process.
For plantar fasciitis, shockwave therapy is used to target the damaged and irritated tissue in the heel and arch region. By stimulating circulation and healing activity in the area, it may help patients who have had persistent heel pain that has not fully improved with rest or simple home care. Because shockwave therapy is non-invasive, it can be an appealing option for patients who want to avoid more aggressive treatment approaches while still addressing the problem directly. Westfield Health & Rehabilitation describes it as a great, low-risk option for many musculoskeletal issues.
Westfield Health & Rehabilitation is a multidisciplinary practice that offers chiropractic care, physical therapy, acupuncture, sports medicine, spinal decompression, cold laser therapy, and shockwave therapy. Depending on your symptoms and exam findings, your plantar fasciitis treatment plan may include a combination of therapies to relieve pain, improve movement, and support long-term recovery.
A care plan for plantar fasciitis may include:
Plantar fasciitis often starts as an annoyance and gradually becomes more limiting. When left untreated, heel pain can affect how you walk, which may lead to compensation in the ankles, knees, hips, or lower back. Early care may help reduce strain before the condition becomes more stubborn and begins interfering with work, exercise, and daily life.
If heel pain is making it harder to stay active, walk comfortably, or get through your normal routine, it may be time for an evaluation.
Dr. Todd Carnucci leads Westfield Health & Rehabilitation with a mission to eliminate pain, improve function, and enhance quality of life. The practice serves Westfield and surrounding communities from its downtown Westfield rehabilitation center and offers a broad range of treatment options under one roof.

Dr. Carnucci is the best. Highly recommend!*

let me give a HUGE thankful wave of gratitude for Westfield Health and Rehabilitation!! Shana my acupuncturist , after 5 awful years of being in pain with injuries and crazy new symptoms , tons of nerve burns, minor surgeries, useless highly addictive pain meds with terrible side effects, painful PT and all things unsuccessful, acupuncture has improved my life dramatically!
Shana is highly knowledgeable , well trained , excellent at what she does. She also is stellar with her bedside manner, actually everyone there is! To find a health practitioner that actually listens and is genuinely concerned about your quality of life in itself is priceless and makes a HUGE difference. By recommending homeopathic treatments, giving me the information to also add amino acids and other vitamins to my daily regimen is so beneficial. I notice small improvements. While I still have bad days, they haven’t been as debilitating as I have had in the past! So a huge THANK you for changing and improving the quality of my life!*

This is a one stop wellness center. Dr Todd is outstanding. They now offer acupuncture ( I was a skeptic…no longer). Their physical therapist is excellent. As needed you can get an appointment with several pain management specialists. The office staff is friendly and will try their best to make appointments to fit the lives of the busy man or woman. They have the spinal decompression which will offer tremendous relieve to lower back pain, bulging discs, herniated disc, and sciatica…and I am a walking testament to that. I highly recommend this Doctor and the entire staff.*

I am fairly new to the chiropractic world and it has been my absolute pleasure to be able to work with Dr.Todd. They have everything i needed under one roof, saving me two or three trips every visit. Dr. Todd & his staff are the best! As an RN for nearly 40 years, I am very selective in who I trust my healthcare to. Dr. Todd’s staff are friendly, professional, & all work together as a great team. The energy in his practice is exceedingly positive, which promotes healing. I have received chiropractic care, PT, & acupuncture. I no longer get headaches since starting chiropractic care with him. His modalities have helped heal low back pain & various injuries. I highly recommend his practice to everyone I know!*

AMAZING SERVICE.they make me feel so comfortable and every visit is like a relaxing vacation! Definitely recommend.*

I love this place. My family and I have been coming here since it opened. My husband has a bad back and he comes every time he has a problem, they are helpful and they have good hours. My son after a shoulder injury went to a orthopedic and somewhere else for PT, after 1 month with no improvement, we had to come here. They improved and strengthened his shoulder and made it ready for rowing season. I’ve come here with sciatica pain, gone is a couple of months. I’ve come here after a car accident. I’m recently coming for a bum knee and I need to get it in shape in order to hike the Grand Canyon for my 50th Birthday. Caring & effective. They don’t rush you, they take the time to understand where your pain is and they treat it. Love it.*
